Dr. Paul Duffy, Vice-President, Pfizer commented on the announcement saying: “Working more closely with academia and third-level graduates in science, particularly chemistry and engineering is key to advancing pharmaceutical manufacturing in Ireland. We invest $7 billion annually in R&D and collaboration is fundamental to our strategy. In Ireland we work closely with academia through state-funded initiatives such as the Solid State Pharmaceutical Cluster in UL, we also have close ties to UCC.”
Minister Deenihan said "Today's announcement again shows that the Science Gallery is fast becoming a leader in demonstrating how a major cultural institution can harness both State and private sector Philanthropic support. The Science Circle is a group of companies who commit to an ongoing philanthropic relationship with the Science Gallery over a number of years. The Science Circle is the highest level of commitment to Science Gallery, and I want to pay tribute to Pfizer for making this commitment to the gallery."

Furthermore, five of Pfizer’s newest medicines in cancer, osteoporosis and arthritis are being manufactured from our sites in Ireland,” Dr. Duffy added. “This is testimony not only to the quality and commitment of Pfizer colleagues, but to the excellent graduates we have in Ireland across science, maths and engineering and a deep expertise developed over decades in pharmaceutical manufacturing and technology. Our Process Development Centre (PDC) has been responsible for transformative process innovation fundamentally changing how we manufacture our medicines.”
